The roundtable will focus on the current state of experimental cinema. Russian and international directors will discuss the institutionalization of this film genre, as well as the production and distribution challenges faced by creators of unconventional forms. We will also focus on the future of experimental cinema: whether it retains the potential for independent on-screen expression, or whether its development inevitably leads to a merger with performative practices and installation. This meeting of directors from different countries will provide an opportunity to compare national models of support for this field and exchange experiences in overcoming institutional barriers.
